Archibold Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park, Sydney.

The Archibold Fountain was created by French sculptor Francois Sicard, erected in 1932 and commemorates the association between Australia and France in World War 1.
Its creation draws from Greek antiquity and a Sydney example of the classic, revival art known as Art Deco.
The Archibold Fountain is an 18-metre diameter Hexagon, primarily featuring a bronze 'Apollo' and including other mythical figures, Diana, Pan and the Minotaur.

Another one of Sydney's most popular and well-known beaches. ☀️⛱
Ever noticed how all beaches are unique in their own way?
Although they're all essentially a heap of sand next to the ocean, every beach I visit has its own character.
Sometimes its the natural environment and location that make it unique and sometimes its the people on it that contribute to its character.

I prefer long, vast stretches of beach that allow you to see all of the coastline.
But these headland or bay beaches are very common in Sydney.
Lots of Sydney beaches are secluded, some are thin stretches of sand inbetween headland and some are simply tranquil bays.

Fancy a property on a beach like this?
These Bronte houses lining the beach contours don't look it at first glance, but they'll set you back a few million AUD.🙈

Orange and candy-coloured sunset from the Bay Run Foreshore in Sydney's inner west.

A lot of my lockdown days were spent walking around the Bay Run Foreshore because there was nowhere else to go in Sydney.

As boring as it can be to only walk around the same place every day, I learnt that every sunset was different.

P.S - There's no filter on these shots. These colours are all authentic. Only brightness and contrast were tweaked, bc I only shoot with a smartphone and it was dusk lighting.
I don't like to present anyone with a fake or altered version of my travel world reality. This is real travel.

Sydney Fish Market on Blackwattle Bay Foreshore. 🐟🐠

Sydney Fish Market offers visitors and locals a chance to see an authentic, working fish market.
Its actually the largest fish market in the Southern Hemisphere and second largest in the world outside Japan.
5.30am is when the buyers arrive for Catch of the Day, then the auction after that.
52 tonnes of fish or seafood are sold here per day!🐠🐟 🦑🦐🦞🦀

You can do a Behind the Scenes tour of the market and Sydney Seafood School is located here too, where you can take seafood cookery classes.

And of course you can buy some of the yummiest and freshest fish & chips in Sydney here.🤤👌🏼

The Bondi to Coogee Walk is one of the most famous and well-known coastal walks in Australia.
This popular coastal walk snakes around 6km of Sydney's eastern bay's, taking in cliffs, bays, beaches, rockpools and parks.
You'll pass by the famous Bondi beach, as well as Bronte, Tamarama, Clovelley, and Coogee.

The Bondi to Coogee walk offers plenty of stunning views.
This view shows Bronte beach in the distance and eventually if you keep going you'll hit Coogee and after that Maroubra.

Another #Sydney great.
Whilst we were living in Sydney for a year and a half, we saw so much.
And the pinnacle of Sydney has to be its gorgeous harbour.
We got many photos of the iconic Sydney Opera House but this shot of me with no one else in it, is one of my favourites.
One of my #traveltips for getting photos with noone else in them, is always go on a weekday, early or late (if you can) and once there if you hang out long enough, there's always a lull and you can grab a quick moment where there's not many people around.
No photo editing required.
There's always a way 😎

Yes, that is a lonely couch dumped out on the rocks.

Alone, left out in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by tumultuous waves - that perfectly sums up how Sydney ended for us.

I haven't posted in ages. I took time off from IG & other social media as it became overwhelming to absorb that world, when there was so much going on behind the screen in reality.

We were still living in Sydney when the Covid pandemic hit. We'd built up months of housesit bookings in advance in amazing locations like Bondi & Maroubra and I had a job at one of the universities, as well as my freelance work.
In March 2020, we had just moved into a beautiful housesit in Neutral Bay with a view of the city and had plans after completing the next 3 months of booked housesits, to fly to the UK to see my Nan and attend my partner's best friend's wedding.

If it was ever possible to see your life rapidly unravelling whilst frozen in shock, unable to control it - this was the closest you'd get to that.

In the space of 48 hours, covid19 was announced as a global pandemic, the entire world shut down its borders, my job had gone, & the people we were housesitting for, had to return early due to border closures.
All of our booked house-sits one by one, trickled in, cancelling their trips and subsequently cancelling the house-sit.

Suddenly we had nowhere to live in a very expensive city.
Full-time housesitting is the way we've been sourcing our accommodation for the last few years. So we had no accommodation back up and we couldn't travel anywhere to go stay with anyone, as travel & movement had completely stopped....

This is the view from Sydney Park, one of the cities popular parks, in the inner west.
The inner west falls right under Sydney's flight path, so at sunset, you could sit on the hilltop and watch all the planes take off and land. 🛫🛬

In fact if you lived in the inner west, you would hear planes all the time - from 6am until 11pm - it was pretty noisy. ✈🚀

Since the pandemic halted all travel, the skies here have been so quiet.
This photo was taken pre-pandemic, back when we would all talk about how noisy it was being under the flight path and how we wished it was more peaceful.
Who knew we'd get the quiet we never actually wanted. 😑
